NetworkedAssets Sp. z.o. in the media – Germany? No thanks!
Our Polish affiliate company, NetworkedAssets Sp. z.o.o. is hailed in the 3sat Kulturzeit report Germany? No thanks! as an exemplary business for the added value of Polish employees who work in Poland and want to remain there. The report explains why Poles don’t want to work in Germany.
Since mid 2011, the German job market has been open to job seekers from Eastern Europe. There was a great deal of concern among Germans about wage dumping and being flooded with foreign influences. Though despite these fears, hardly any Poles came to Germany. First and foremost, well-educated specialist workers and academics are not keen on the idea of facing resentment, moderate pay and non-existent prospects for promotion.
Wrocław: An Academic Stronghold
Wrocław’s market place bears traces of its Germanic history. Poland’s Silesian metropolis has 630,000 inhabitants; unemployment is low, because Wrocław is booming: 25,000 students graduate from university in Wrocław, many in engineering subjects – and all this is happening only 170 kilometres away from the German border.
A German firm in Poland’s Silicon Valley
Wrocław is known as the Silicon Valley of Eastern Europe. There are industrial estates as far as the eye can see: products are manufactured here, though there has also been a lot of development for a long time, too, thanks to the large number of students here. In Wrocław, the German firm NetworkedAssets develops software solutions. The branch was opened because that’s where the specialists are. If the prophet will not come to the mountain, then the mountain has to move to the prophet instead. In one of the many pubs we meet Krzysztof again, who speaks excellent German, but he no longer wants to go over to Germany. In Wrocław, the German influence on the area is very apparent. This may lead many to believe (a little prematurely perhaps) that the people of Wrocław will wait for the Germans. But this is a misconception: the competition for the best brains in Europe was lost a long time ago by the Germans, at least in Wrocław.
